To fully participate in the regattas as a member of the crew

 

Included in the amount of 1425€ for the May to September season 2020 is :

  • 15 starting certificates to be selected with priority over the 40 regattas (A starting certificate for sailors not being part of the crew is 160€ per regatta)
  • 10 invitations for acces to the floating terrace by Patrolboat (the standard acces rate is 50€).
  • 5 invitations for evening trainingsessions (the standard rate for a trainingsession is 75€).

Regattas

1. Rules

The Regatta will be governed by the Racing Rules of Sailing 2017-2020 (RRS)

No National prescriptions shall apply.
This Notice of Regatta and Sailing Instructions will prevail in the case of conflict with the RRS.

2. Advertising

Advertising on a Yacht or by its Crew is only permitted after written autorisation by the Classic Yacht Club du Cotentin (hereafter CYCC) who reserves the right to forbid items of advertising which may conflict with the Regattas sponsors, or in any way offend laws or customs by their nature. CYCC and, as authorized by CYCC, its agents, sponsors, licensees and other commercial partners may use event-related still images and footage taken at any time, which may include images of the Crew, the Yachts, support vessels, spectators and sponsors, provided that CYCC shall not use such images to create a direct endorsement by a sponsor, product or service associated with a Crewmember, without the prior consent of the Crewmember.

3. Classes

The Regatta will have the following classes, which may be subdivided into divisions once all entries have been received. A class designed for cruisers/teams who do not race on a regular basis and therefore may not have a valid handicap certificate. The Class will be divided into divisions. “Cruising A” and “Cruising B”. Division allocations will be based on Hull Length, Displacement Ratio and Design. Divisions will be scored using a performance based handicap system using the best information available as its base rating.

4. Crew

Online entry for Crewmembers is available at: www.classic-yacht-club-cotentin.fr from 2th March 2020. Entry and Crew fees include special designed Yachtwear, equipement, entrance to official social events and the issue of complimentary Regatta souvenirs for the registered Crew.
In the event that the participation of a race is being cancelled by a Crewmember, entry fees will not be refunded. It is authorized to exchange the participation of a Regatta with another registered Crewmember, under the condition that a written notification of an exchange is received at the CYCC minimum two hours before the First Warning Signal.

5. Schedule of regattas, social events, presentations

Saturday 30th May, Registration and Opening Party 10.00 – 13.30 Skippers Briefing 14.00. Regatta Day 1 (30th May) First Warning Signal 15.30.
1st Regatta Day 2 (30thMay) 10.30 First Warning Signal.
2nd Regatta Day 2 (31th of May) First warning signal 15.30.
Following Regattas every Saturday 2 Regattas and every Sunday 1 Regatta, weatherconditions allowing. Last Regatta for the 2020 season the 17th of October and Final Presentation Dinner Party.

6. Sailing instructions

The Sailing Instructions will be available at the Skippers Briefing, which is held minimum one hour before the First Warning Signal. They may be posted on the CYCC web site in advance.

7. Season

There will be a maximum of 50 Regattas for each class during the 30th May to 17th of October 2020 Series.

8. Crew list

Before the first Regatta is sailed, all Crewmembers are required to supply in writing the name and contact details of a person who can be contacted in an emergency and who will not be sailing on the boat.
The Skipper shall have and maintain full details of all Crewmembers racing on board the Yacht each day, together with their email addresses and cellphonenumbers up to date and complete at the start of the Regatta.
Accredited journalists, photographers or cameramen who are not regular Crewmembers may join and/or leave a Yacht at any time and by any means so long as their doing so does not directly affect another Yacht and they play no part in the racing of the Yacht.

9. Safety

Each Yacht shall carry at least one suitable anchor and a sufficient suitable cable to hold the boat in the depth of water and likely weather conditions in and near the racing area.
All Crewmembers will wear the designated Yacht Lifevests.
All Yachts will be inspected and maintained in accordance with applicable safety and measurement requirements.
All Yachts shall carry a working VHF Radio, which must be switched on during racing and able to receive instructions from the race committee throughout the regatta.
The Regatta Organizers may, during a race, announce changes of course, repositioning of marks, colour of marks, shortening the course, or abandoning a Regatta, over the radio. This may compliment or replace the traditional methods as provided for in the RRS.

10. Insurance

Yachts will be adequately covered by appropriate third party liability insurance.
Also, it is recommended that all Crewmembers and other on board be adequately insured including against medical costs.

11. Prizes

The following principal prizes for the Classique Régate de Presqu’ile will be awarded in each class or division. 1st Place 1st Prize trophy 2nd Place 2nd Prize trophy 3rd Place 3rd Prize trophy. Additional prizes may be awarded by Sponsors for individual Regattas. Other prizes may be awarded for class and division results.

12. Security

Whilst the Regatta Organisers will do their best to arrange a safe environment for competing Yachts and Crews, all entrants are cautioned to secure valuables at all times during the Regatta. Crewmembers are required to sign a Declaration upon registration, absolving CYCC and The Regatta Organisers of liability in the event of loss or accident. Access to official Social functions will be restricted to those who have paid the Crew fee or Social fee to CYCC.

13. Risk statement

Crewmembers participate in the Regatta entirely at their own risk. CYCC and The Regatta Organisers will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the Regatta. Sailing is by its nature an unpredicatable sport and therefore inherently involves an element of risk. By taking part in the event, each Crewmember agrees and acknowledges that: a. They are aware of the inherent element of risk involved in the sport and accept responsibility for the exposure of themselves to such inherent risk whilst taking part in the event; b. They are responsible for the safety of themselves and their property whether afloat or ashore; c. They accept responsibility for any injury, damage or loss to the extent caused by their own actions or omissions; d. The provision of a Regatta Organiser, Skipper, Patrol Boat and other officials and volunteers does not relieve them of their own responsibilities; e. The provision of Patrol Boat cover is limited to such assistance, particularly in extreme weather conditions, as can be practically provided in the circumstances. f. It is their responsibility to familiarise themselves with any risks specific to this venue or this event drawn to their attention in any rules and information produced for the venue or event and to attend any safety briefing held for the event.
